A sultry summer, a bustling sunny land, Guangxi – is an autonomous region in Southern China, bordering Vietnam, which is known as the cradle of early Chinese industrial development. But because it is outside the special economic zone, in the years after China’s rise, Guangxi was gradually forgotten and became weak compared to other provinces in many fields such as transportation, society…
Liuzhou- Is it a place worth traveling to?
The destination this time will be Liuzhou, the second largest city of Guangxi province, and also the industrial center of the province.Let’s see what interesting things Liuzhou has to offer
Through the hands of people with many years of experience, over the years with the catalyst of society, the costumes are transformed in a variety of colors, materials or designs. In particular, their accessories are delicately sculpted with images of peacocks, phoenixes or eye-catching cubic structures on each pedal, bracelet or earring but are all made from durable materials like gold, silver and copper so it’s quite heavy and bulky.
Today, ancient costumes and accessories are preserved in the Guangxi museum to help visitors have an overview of the formation and sustainability of the long-term value of traditional costumes.
Liuzhou is surrounded by high, medium and small mountains, and on the mountains there are always pagodas built long ago. Considered a sacred place, most people here follow Buddhism as their main religion.
Liuzhou - Times History Museum
Guangxi became a key economic region of the country, starting from rudimentary machinery to the outstanding development that made everyone admire. When I came to Liuzhou Industrial Museum, I witnessed the great inventions of this sunny and windy land along with important inventions that influenced agriculture and industry such as printing presses, rickshaws, and kilns. , trains… and above all, the economy was clearly promoted and reached its peak thanks to the industrial revolution at that time.
Liuzhou - Northern Cuisine
With hot weather throughout the province, Liuzhou brings great flavors, rich in traditional values of the land known as the quintessence of Northern cuisine.
With salty dishes, the flavors tend to be spicy and fatty, especially snail noodles (螺蛳粉- Luósī fěn), a dish considered a symbol of Guangxi, with many diverse variations to suit all tastes.
With sweets, the ingredients are diverse and fresh, creating a melt-in-your-mouth feeling. Fresh fruit can be processed into smoothies, jelly or sweet soup (甜汤 – Tián tāng)
Liuzhou - Interesting Destinations
Below are some destinations that I had the opportunity to visit. You can refer to some other Chinese travel websites.
It is a place that attracts a large number of tourists every day, built in an ancient architectural style with many entertainment purposes such as taking photos with national costumes and stylish night eateries or spectacular and rich competitions or concerts amidst the magnificent sky.
The highlight here is The Architectural Method of the Song Dynasty (Yingzaofashi), a classic work that represents the pinnacle of science and art in ancient Chinese architecture. What attracts tourists here is the shimmering, magical look of the architectural works at night.
With the advantage of terrain, Liuzhou forms sharp stone caves with interesting stories behind. The trip is always guided by a professional tour guide, bringing a feeling of curiosity and discovery to visitors.
There are some notes for visitors:
Please bring water because the journey is quite long and wet.
Bring sneakers with non-slip soles for easy, slip-free hiking.
The temperature inside is quite low compared to the outside temperature so you can bring a windbreaker.
Do not bring snacks or litter
This is an interesting destination for those who want to learn about the history of Chinese industry since its inception. Inside the museum are paintings and illustrations that give an impression of the people who created those machines. Outside will be the first 1:1 sized train image along with other engine models to help visitors have a more realistic view.
There are also interesting souvenirs here and especially ice cream with locomotives or other interesting shapes that you should try.
Unlike the above industrial museum, the Liuzhou History Museum creates historical contexts of ethnic groups, recording everyday moments from costumes to everyday life. The museum is also a place to store rare antiques unearthed in this land, from precious stones to porcelain vases with skillful motifs or fossil fragments of dinosaurs from millions of years ago. They are arranged scientifically, creating curiosity for visitors when visiting.
Liuzhou - Maybe you are interested
When I travel on the weekend, there are a lot of tourists. However, there will be many programs and festivals taking place near major entertainment areas. You can go with local people or equip yourself with enough vocabulary to easily communicate. What’s even better is that the people here are very friendly and welcoming. If you want to experience independence, I have the following suggestions for you.
I will suggest more necessary applications for your trip in another post. Most services in China are provided through apps that aim to shorten waiting times or make them easier to use in every way. The only weakness of the apps is that they are entirely in Chinese, so you need careful guidance from your native friend.
So surely you already have your answer, right? Should Liuzhou be your next destination?
